Our Cafe Colonnade Concerts are back! Spend some time on the beautiful grounds of the Wilson Center with our specialty espresso bar partner Roast Coffee Company and our Colonnade Concert partner Wisconsin Music Ventures! Bring yourself, a loved one, and a chair to our Burke Colonnade Café as Roast Coffee Kiosk serves delicious coffee and espresso drinks on Saturdays (and Sundays!) from 8am-2pm, and check out a free performance featuring incredible Milwaukee-area musicians on Saturdays from 9am-11am. BYOC (bring your own chairs)!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15: STAS VENGLEVSKI
Experience the artistry, sensitivity, and dazzling technical command of acclaimed bayan virtuoso Stas Venglevski as he's joined by special guest, award-winning classical guitarist Rene Izquierdo! Stas' repertoire includes his original compositions and a broad range of classical, contemporary and ethnic music. He has toured extensively as a soloist throughout the former Soviet Union, Canada, Europe, and the United States, including numerous performances with Doc Severinsen, Steve Allen, and with Garrison Keillor on the Prairie Home Companion Show. Additionally, he has performed with symphony orchestras throughout the United States. A native from Cuba, Izquierdo graduated from Guillermo Tomas, Amadeo Roldan Conservatory and Superior Institute of Art in Havana. In the U.S., he earned a Master of Music and an Artist Diploma degree from Yale University School of Music, where he studied with Benjamin Verdery. He has shared the stage with prestigious guitarists including Eliot Fisk, Benjamin Verdery, and Jorge Morel, as well as renowned flutist Ransom Wilson, soprano Lucy Shelton, David Jolley, and Paquito d’Rivera. Izquierdo is a winner of JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Competition in 2004, Extremadura International Guitar Competition, Schadt String competition, Stotsenberg International Guitar Competition among others. He is currently a professor of classical guitar at the UW-Milwaukee and an active solo performer and chamber musician.
