About Donna Woodall: Donna Woodall began her Milwaukee music career singing with top groups, The Eddie Butts Band and Streetlife with Warren Wiegratz (former houseband of the Milwaukee Bucks). She quickly discovered her own musical voice, forming the Donna Woodall Group. With her unique blend of jazz/blues and pop originals and covers, Donna Woodall blurs musical genres and presents lush, intimate vocals with every performance. She has established herself as a skilled singer, bandleader, and songwriter in the Milwaukee music scene. Donna artfully blends the musical styles of artists such as Cassandra Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Norah Jones, Tracy Chapman and Esperanza Spalding with elements of traditional jazz and blues. The result? A fresh, new twist on familiar pop songs. Audiences are delighted by her eclectic song selections, cool and creative renditions of classic hits, and her bold moves into different music genres. Donna's talents also come alive on her self-produced album, "The Subject Love." This labor of love let her flex her songwriting muscle, showcasing original material that ranges from “soulful folk" to fun "jazz-pop." Masterful delivery and a captivating stage performance set Donna apart from the rest. When describing herself, Donna shares, "I am a dreadlocked, long-time 8th grade English teacher (and Trekkie) residing in Milwaukee, WI who feels most at home in a snappy blazer, cool T-shirt and jeans. If songwriter Carole King and jazz singer Cassandra Wilson had a baby, they'd produce me." Donna's earliest musical influences were jazz greats like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, and her mother, Jeanne Woodall, who also performed in Milwaukee jazz circles, leaving behind a legacy of song. Over the years, Donna Woodall has performed at several of Milwaukee's prestigious festivals: Jazz in the Park, Summerfest, River Rhythms, Tosafest, Lakefront Festival of the Arts, Bay View Jazz Fest, Zoo a la Carte, Middleton Jazz Fest, etc. These days, Donna is working on reimaging the music of her favorite artists with specialty tribute shows, recording, and sharing her original music with fans old and new!
