Under the direction of Maestro Andrew Sewell, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra launches their first MASTERWORKS series concert at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts. The Madison-based chamber orchestra introduces themselves in preparations for a full 20/21 Masterworks season. Andrew Balio is originally from Wisconsin and holds the position of principal trumpet with the Baltimore Symphony. He will perform two works for trumpet, Seraph by English composer James MacMillan written in 2010, and the trumpet concerto by Italian composer Andre Tomasi from 1948. The Strauss Serenade in E flat is a beautiful chamber work for winds, and WCO will conclude their season paying homage to Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with his Symphony No. 6 “the Pastoral.”
