Stephen Sondheim was one of America’s greatest composer/lyricists and set the standard for modern American Musical Theatre. He has received eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy awards, an Academy Award, a Pulitzer Prize, a Laurence Olivier Award, and the 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom. Joan Curto has been performing the work of Sondheim for decades, and her interpretations of his music have been called “savvy, brainy, [and]shrewdly delivered” and “an illuminating way to celebrate the riches of Sondheim’s art” by the Chicago Tribune. This musical celebration explores the many facets of Sondheim’s work including songs written for both the stage and screen, songs written from his early days and songs spanning his entire career. The show will feature songs from many of Sondheim’s beloved shows including, Company, A Little Night Music, Follies, Into the Woods, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George and more. Joan will be joined by her trio including her musical director and Chicago favorite, Beckie Menzie.
