"For our spring concert, Artistic Director Jared Baker explores the unique, complex, and ever-changing concept of time. How can five minutes feel so short in one instance, yet linger on forever in another? Is it alive, and if so, why does it dictate everything we do? Does it have the ability to heal? Can we make more of it? Does it know it’s own future? Why does it seem like there is never enough?
Spanning two halves, Baker reflects on how our perspective of time, changes over time. In the first half, the piece takes a youthful perspective, using time as a record and accumulation of experiences and markers in life. How do we interact with time when we aren’t overly aware of it? What do we do with our time, when it seems like there is so much of it? After intermission, that perspective changes. At at certain point in life, we become more aware of how fleeting life really is and have to make decisions about what to do with the time that is left."
