A classically trained vocalist, pianist and a contemporary voice specialist with jazz, soul, and gospel influences, Marcya Daneille is a cross-genre singer who can swing her way through a jazz Standard, groove on a classic soul tune, or reach for the heavens with her own special brand of gospel jazz.
Marcya started working in the Chicago area opera scene while a voice student at the Chicago Musical College. Her first opera contract was with the Lyric Theater of Illinois. A few years later she became a featured member of Lincoln Opera Chicago. After relocating to New York City to further develop her career, Marcya fully embraced a crossover career that would combine elements of jazz, soul, and gospel music. Executive produced by trombonist Wycliffe Gordon and engineered by the late Emmy award-winning audio engineer Jim Czak, Marcya’s CD Keeping it Simple features performances by Wycliffe Gordon (piano/trombone), Aaron Diehl (piano), and Dezron Douglas (bass).
For our 20th Birthday Celebration Season, the Wilson Center is thrilled to be part of a “shop local” arts initiative with Wisconsin Music Ventures, as we work together to build community through music and music through community. Our inaugural “Green Room” concert series features a true sound sampling of artists from around Wisconsin and is designed to introduce audiences to artists from a wide range of locales around our state (and just a little beyond) and an eclectic array of genres—including jazz, pop, rock, country, folk, soul, classical, Celtic, and more. Unless otherwise noted, each Green Room Series concert will take place in our intimate, cabaret-style Dawes Studio Theater.
