Nordic gems of Nielsen and Sibelius (his tender-hearted Spring Song) serve as preludes for two of the most popular masterworks of the late Romantic era. Edvard Grieg’s ardently beautiful Piano Concerto gets its first full hearing at the Philharmonic in many years, thanks to the ardent virtuosity of British pianist Simon Mulligan, already a veteran of many of the world’s great stages, in his WPO debut.
