Dick Murdock has been hanging around the Wilson Center—a lot! A volunteer usher for the Center, he has greeted patrons with a perpetual smile and escorted them to their seats at least once a week for the last four years. A 25-year resident of Brookfield, Dick is a retired accountant who spent his career working for Clark Oil in West Allis and in selling real estate.
When he’s not ushering, Dick likes to travel, golf, study genealogy, garden, take classes through the Elderhostel Learning in Retirement program (most recently Great Mysteries of the World and Psychology of Human Behavior). He says his ushering duties “keep him off the streets” and he has especially enjoyed helping patrons with disabilities get to the east lawn this summer for Starry Nights. When Dick isn’t at the Wilson Center, he’s busy at Care Age in Brookfield assisting residents who are being transported to recreational activities.
