Starry Nights - Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra

Enjoy a preview of the musical program that will be performed by the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra as part of their 2017 Argentina – Uruguay Tour! The program will include Shostakovich’s Festive Overture, Opus 96, a high-energy, majestic, and celebratory composition; Brahms’ Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, Opus 77, movement III, featuring MYSO's award-winning violin soloist, Julian Rhee, who resides in Brookfield; and Porgy and Bess:  A Symphonic Picture, orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett, and based on George Gershwin’s opera, Porgy and Bess. The concert will conclude with three Latin-flavored compositions in a tribute to their tour's host cities: West Side Story Medley by Leonard Bernstein; Danzόn No. 2, by Arturo Márquez; and Capriccio Espagnole, Opus 34, by Rimsky-Korsakov.

MYSO is one of the most successful and respected youth orchestra programs in the nation, regularly recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally for its artistic excellence.
